Abstract
In this paper the analysis of preface (as an integral part of every exhibition catalogue) will be used to once more question the relation between the work of art and its interpretation. Therefore, boundaries and possibilities of prefaces will be examined. Since in contemporary times the border between living and artificial became vague, bio-political understanding of preface and documentational type of preface will serve as an example of creation of life from art. On the other hand, the artistic understanding of preface and poetic type of preface will be used as an example of creation of art from life. This analysis will also open the question what happens with the third one, a visitor as a receptor of exhibition, who supposed to be the first one experiencing the work of art. Does the existence of preface deprive him direct experience of the work of art or the preface can serve him as means to have a vivid experience?
