Abstract

This paper analyzes the organization, operations, conditions and business structure of the Croatian subsidiary of a well known German multinational company Dr. Oekter and performs key obstacles and problems encountered by companies acting in a market which is characterized by a very strong competitive situation and by unfavorable market conditions caused by a prolonged economic crisis. Methods of participant observation in the development of business intelligence analysis and business decision-making, the author presents the role of business intelligence in business decision-making for a subsidiary of a multinational company. It concludes that business intelligence goes hand in hand with other significant business factors, such as the influence of the central multinational company on the business policy of its subsidiaries, as well as contrastive business policies, that are influenced by divergent socio-cultural, competitive and economic conditions in certain markets.
