Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate differences between adaptive perfectionists, maladaptive perfectionists and nonperfectionists in generalised self-efficacy and aspiration level, including contribution of perfectionism and generalised self-efficacy in explaining aspiration level. The study included psychology students sample. Almost Perfect Scale – Revised and General Self-Efficacy Scale were applied as measures of perfectionism and generalised self-efficacy respectively. For the purpose of aspiration level assessment, participants chose the cognitive test difficulty level they wanted to solve. Results showed that adaptive perfectionists have higher generalised self-efficacy than nonperfectionists. No differences in aspiration level were confirmed between adaptive perfectionists, maladaptive perfectionists and nonperfectionists. Only generalised self-efficacy emerged as significant predictor of aspiration level, indicating that persons with higher self-efficacy also have higher aspiration level.
