Abstract
This thesis provides systematic research, identification and categorisation of German
loanwords in Croatian language of agriculture. The first part of the thesis provides an outline
of basic principles of language borrowing with emphasis on borrowing on the lexical level,
followed by a detailed overview of the history of Croatian-German language contact from the
16th to the beginning of the 21st century in the context of socio-political situation that resulted
in integration of German loanwords related to various professions in Croatian language in
those areas of Croatia that were once a part of the Military Frontier.
