Abstract
The historical architectural entity of Korčula has monumental values. Founded in the thirteenth century, the regulated town planning defined and established guidelines for future and planned construction in an arrangement of residential, civil, and sacral buildings. In written records about the cultural heritage of Korčula, both local and international authors have given descriptive evaluations. They considered the architectural heritage by applying contemporary theories in the protection of monuments and spaces attributed to the time of their formation. The whole of the proposed work interprets features of the architectural heritage of Korčula on the basis of its known characteristics, as well as upon those which are here published for the first time, and open them to analysis and evaluation. These findings point out the importance of studying the significance of the protection of monuments and achievements in preserving Korčula's cultural heritage both in the past and present. Ključne
