Abstract

This article discusses the topic of alternative information centers / infoshops in Croatia. Because of its independence from the library system, although similar to libraries, infoshops are not sufficiently represented in the library literature. The aim of this paper is to present infoshop to librarian community. The first part of article presents the theoretical view of infoshops - definition, historical overview, description of work and problems in the work. Second, the research part of article, deals with the infoshops in Croatia. There are four infoshops in Croatia, and study was conducted on infoshops - Pippilotta, OpenBox and Tabula Rasa. Research shows the way infoshops are functioning – funding of infoshops, policies toward users, operating services, personnel and financing .
