Abstract
This paper focuses on the subject of competitiveness in terms of modern business. Nowadays, technology, through annulating time and space, is allowing hiperglobalization of society. As well as the society, the market is affected by constant changes of rapid turns, creating the need for knowledge which generates the power and ability to maintain or to increase business entity competitiveness in the market, by adapting its business to constant changes. In order for business entities to achieve their interests in unstable operating conditions, they need to secure a systematic application of data collection, processing and analising methods - 45 business intelligence. Data collection has initially been used mostly for military purposes, and gradually more and more begun to be used in the economy in order to achieve the best possible position to achieve the interests. Ever since the World War II, the business intelligence has been institutionalized as an anticipating system that serves as a support for management in making strategic decisions, and is also the precondition for successful business. Countries such as Germany, Finland and the UK have a usage of business intelligence above 70%. As a result of such high stake business intelligence based decisions in companies of previously mentioned countries, regardless of their size, have better competitiveness and economy performance indicators. In order for Croatia to become an economically successful country, it must adapt its business management to current trends in the business world.
