Abstract
The paper presents contemporary emigration of young people from Slavonia to Ireland. This migration wave is shown through macrocontext, mezocontext and microcontext. Ethnological and cultural anthropological qualitative methodology have been used in research. Emphasis has been placed on the ethnography of the individual. Migrant experiences of seven young people, mostly university graduates, were obtained through interviews. Paper shows push and pull factors of emigration to Ireland, social and cultural capital, their day-to-day experience in Ireland (finding accommodation, work, leisure) and transnational practices. The paper concludes by comparing life in Ireland with life in Croatia, and questions about the future. The researched group is an example of chain migration which represents elements of globalization, such as contemporary communication technology.
