Abstract
The topic of this dissertation is a project run by The Zagreb City libraries entitled “Knjigom do krova: mreža knjižnica za osnaživanje beskućnika”. To get a clearer picture about the importance of including libraries in the lives of homeless persons this dissertation brings information about the project, as well as the official definition of a homeless person and their status in the city of Zagreb. It is important to mention the work that volunteers do with the homeless persons and to explain the meaning of the concept of volunteering because the libraries would not be able to maintain different workshops without them. To present the implementation of the project “Knjigom do krova”, semi-structured interviews were carried out with the manager of the project Sanja Bunić, one of the volunteers and four attendants of workshops
