Abstract
Cloud computing is rapidly growing technology in the world of IT, which is based on rental of computing resources. There are three different service models: Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS). Five essential characteristics of cloud computing are: on-demand self-service, broad network access, resource pooling, rapid elasticity and measured service. Service is implemented via four implementation models: public cloud, private cloud, community cloud and hybrid cloud. Virtualization is the key cloud technology.. Archival and informatics aspects of cloud computing were analyzed in two completed researches. Results demonstrate that inthe Republic of Croatia there are cloud service providers which fulfil very high international standards. Furthermore, results display potential financial advantages of cloud computing.
