Abstract
This doctoral thesis presents a study of development of the paper and electronic models
for recording conservation and restoration works on movable cultural property.
Defining the needs for recording conservation and restoration works preceded the process
of creation of a model for electronic recording. Almost a century old practice in this
geographical area testify us about awareness and the importance of documentation and
fotodocumentation process.
By researching the models of documenting in Croatia and abroad the development of the
field was observed, considering the quality and quantity of stored data, for the benefit of
cultural goods. This doctoral thesis defines data, information and the rest of the organizational
pyramid of knowledge that inevitably lead to the definition and importance of documentation
for the actual conservation and restoration activity. A research carried out on other models
highlighted the good solutions but also determined the needs of recording through the stages
of works. It is important to emphasize multidisciplinarity of activities whose diversity of
collected documents needed to be organized into a recognizable form that can be intuitively
consulted.
