Abstract
This paper shows a closing of a theoretical gap in the research of nationalism on the Croatian territory in the war and post war period which have not shown the complex positions of the subjects within the social processes which were going on. This was achieved with a gender analysis of the events which is derived from feminist and postmodern deconstructions of reality. Theoretical basis of this paper are the suggestions about the discursive and performative nature of gender and imagining of the nation from Foucault and Butler. With these methods a rich discourse analysis was achieved about veterans and institutions as the subjects of nationalistic and gender performatives. Also a suggestion of an inevitability of power relations was given, that is of the conflict between hegemonic and marginalized positions as the driving force of social processes.
