Abstract
The aim of this study was to conduct a psychometric validation of the Croatian version of the Conditional reasoning test for power (CRT-P). The participants were students from the University of Zagreb. Most of them were psychology students at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The rest were students at one private business school in Zagreb. In order to find evidence for discriminant and convergent validity, we investigated the correlations between CRT-P and (a) an explicit power motive measure (self-report on the Dominance-Prestige Scale); (b) another implicit measure for the power motive (IAT-Pow). To find evidence for the criterion-related validity, the CRT-P results were correlated with peer reports on the Dominance-Prestige Scale. The test yielded fair psychometric characteristics in terms of discrimination and reliability. However, the results indicate a poor validity of the test. Surprisingly, the test did not correlate neither with the criterion variable (peer reports on the Dominance- Prestige Scale), nor with another implicit measure for the power motive (IAT-Pow). In support of it's discriminant validity goes the fact that no correlation was observed with self-reports on the Dominance-Prestige Scale.
