Abstract
The paper describes the characteristics and advantages of teaching high school subject
Visual arts in a museum or gallery space, with an emphasis on the importance of direct
contact with the artwork and active learning necessary for the development of knowledge and
understanding in general. Because of the numerous positive outcomes of visiting a museum or
gallery, but with simultaneous difficulties in its implementation, it is proposed teaching aid
(Work booklet) for the first year of high school. It is supposed to organize and direct education
in the museum, which would greatly facilitate both teachers and students, and make visits to
museums and galleries more often. The paper further details the purpose, content, didactic and
methodological characteristics, methods and forms of work and the idea of graphic design of the proposed teaching aid, whose content is then exhibited in the form of work booklet. It
includes tasks and reproductions related to museum objects from a few selected museums and
galleries in Zagreb within the following sections: Design, Photography, Painting, Sculpture
and Iconology.
