Abstract
The main aim of this study was to explore age and gender differences in dating violence and to investigate relationship between some aspects of violent and risk behaviors. The study included 673 participants (70% female), average age 20.6 years. 68% participants have been dating in the past 6 months. The results were collected using the Scale of misconceptions about healthy romantic relationships, Dating violence perpetration and victimization questionnaire, Alcohol and drugs use questionnaire and Sexual risk behavior questionnaire. Female participants reported more perpetrated psychological and physical violence, male participants reported more perpetrated sexual violence, as well as more psychological and physical violence victimization. Younger participants reported more perpetrated physical violence and more psychological and physical violence victimization. Male participants have more misconceptions about healthy relationship than the females, as well as the younger participants in comparison to the older ones. Significant positive correlation was found between: risk sexual behaviors - experienced and perpetrated violence and misconceptions about healthy relationship; alcohol consumption - experienced and perpetrated psychological violence; marijuana use - experienced and perpetrated sexual violence; drugs consumption - experienced and perpetrated sexual violence.
