Abstract
Zen-buddhism is an East Asian belief system which is more and more widely known in the West. His foundation is based on Mahāyāna Buddhism, philosophical and religious teachings. The founder and first patriarch of zen-buddhism is Bodhidharma. Popularization of Zen Buddhism through centuries contributed to the development of new musical, pictorial and literary art which today we know as the art of the Far East. Zen-teachers, meditations and reaching for enlightenment are main featuers of zen-buddhism. There are about eight million zen-buddhists in the world, but in the last hundred years there was a decrease of zen-buddhists in Asia and an increase of the same in the West.
