Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine differences in the level of sexual self-disclosure with respect to gender and sexual orientation and to determine relationship between age, length of relationship sexual self-disclosure, sexual satisfaction and relationship quality. 393 participants who were at least 18 years old and in a romantic relationship for at least 6 months took part in the study. Sexual self-disclosure was assesed using Sexual Self- Dislocure Questionnaire (Byers i Demons, 1999) and Sexual Self-Disclosure Scale (Herold i Way, 1988). New Scale of Sexual Satisfaction (Štulhofer i Buško, 2008) was used to asses sexual satifaction, and relationship quality was assesed using Quality of Marriage Index (Norton, 1983). Results have shown small, but significant differences with respect to both gender and relationship type: higher level of sexual self-disclosure was found in women and persons in homosexual relationships. Sexual self-disclosure was a significant positive predictor of sexual satisfaction and relationship quality. Additionaly, hierarchical regression analysis showed that sexual satifsaction could act as a potential mediator between sexual self-disclosure and relationship quality.
