Abstract
This paper interprets Christian concept of living premarital chastity by analyzing the experiences of Catholics and the Catholic religious acts. Premarital chastity is understood as a part of cultural, religious and sexual systems of meaning. In these systems, there are different discourses and praxis that are important for establishing, understanding and accepting the premarital chastity as a way of Catholic living. Body ( as a symbol and a physical body) is one of the central elements for living premarital chastity and for understanding its meaning. In this work premarital chastity emerges as a personal decision that could transform religious identity, especially when it comes to phenomenon of new chastity. It also affects the understanding of the sanctity of the body and the sexual act as a sacred act practised within marriage. Except individual's personal motivation for living premarital chastity, there are also religious communities in which individuals are active and in which they form their attitudes towards living premarital chastity.
