Abstract
This paper outlines the phenomena of social entrepreneurship and corporate social
responsibility in Croatia. These are complex concepts and emerging trends both in the
world and Croatia. We analyze definitions of the related terms, and explore origins and
context of the development of phenomena. Furthermore, we analyze the newly adopted
Strategy for development of social entrepreneurship in the Republic of Croatia for the
period from 2015 to 2020. We discuss the phenomenon of social entrepreneurship from
the perspective of sociological theory: the theory of structuring, social capital theory
and the theory of social movements. We are revoewing the concept of corporate social
responsibility through a critical perspective of Friedmann and Crook. Through
qualitative case study research of six organizations and six companies, we are
investigated the practices of social entrepreneurship and corporate social responsibility
in Croatia.
