Abstract

Health and civic education is a novel cross-curricular module in Croatian schools. Its implementation has been accompanied by a turmoil in general public as well as a substantial confusion in lives of teachers, parents and pupils. Although theory and practice of the school libraries and librarians' work have already been well established and explained, the National framework curriculum terminology and concepts remain largely unclear to both teacher and students. This study shows that the implementation of the health and civic education is in theory written clearly and well organised, unlike practice, where teaching is rare. Reason is lack of, time, teachers or determination, as well as feeling of incompetence or unsecured teachers for teaching topics.
