Abstract
This paper provides an overview of basic marketing concepts (market research, market segmentation, marketing mix, SWOT and PEST analysis, targeting and positioning, marketing control/evaluation), with special emphasis on marketing in non-profit organizations. The paper also elaborates the concept of promotion, with special focus on the libraries promotion. The last part of the paper shows the three-part research of promotional activities in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County public libraries as well as the satisfaction of the members of the Rijeka City Library.
