Abstract

The focus of this paper will be on public libraries, which are available to everyone. Although we are living in the digital age, public libraries as physical spaces do not lose their value. Today’s public libraries are redefining their role in accordance with social and technological changes. They are focused on the user and user facilities. They offer a wide range of programs such as workshops, book presentation, educational programs and other events, and thus bring members of the community to libraries as centers of culture and information, as well as of lifelong learning and informational education. Globalization and information and communication technology have not only changed the libraries services, but also its building. Today’s public libraries have much more spaces than the reading room, space of collection and user services. There are areas such as individual or group study rooms, multipurpose rooms, exhibition rooms and even cafeterias and terrace. In this paper some examples of new library buildings will be shown. These new library buildings reflect the dynamic and constantly-changing world.
