Abstract
The Ballets Russes was a ballet company founded in 1909 by Sergei Diaghilev. It was a Russian based troupe that performed in France and got a worldly acclaim by the time it had branched out into multiple companies. The year or the official end of the Ballets Russes was the same in which Diaghile died, 1929. The point of this work is to examine how and why this specific company with many talented dancers, choreographers, compositors, painters and designers reached such a level or recognition and why they left such a long-lasting impact on the world of ballet. To be able support of such a claim, the work is focused on the anthropological development of the noted topic that can be researched further in the field of performance theory.
