Abstract
This thesis examines the interaction between the current neoliberal trends in the development of health systems and the development of medical tourism. The thesis gives a review and a typology of the concepts relevant to the domain of medical tourism. The thesis also provides a review of the history of neoliberalism and the history of neoliberal reforms in the domain of health care systems. The goal of this article is to indicate that the recent deterioration of health systems across the globe is connected to the booming of public-private partnerships, privatization of health services and medical tourism. After establishing that connection, the author stresses that every attempt to criticize medical tourism is in fact an attempt to criticize the existent global neoliberal political and economic system.
