Abstract
Scientific communication is a dynamic system, its elements creating a continuous string of activities, transferring scientific information inside and outside the scientific community. Scientific communication has a crucial role in the development of science through effective transferring of information on scientific innovations. The good functioning of scientific communication system depends greatly on the possibility of evaluating the quality of scientific research and studies, as well as the scientific work in general. During their career, which usually lasts several decades, scientists are subject to the evaluation of their scientific work and research results. Besides the role it has in their promotion as scientists, the evaluation procedure is a necessary precondition for including the information into the process of transferring them within the system of scientific communication. The quality control procedure has been a part of science for decades and has not been changed significantly since its first implementation. The authors of scientific papers and editorial boards of scientific journals are aware of advantages and disadvantages of the quality control process in science and continue to seek new solutions. Regardless of the disadvantages of the existing quality control system, the science has not yet established a new, better one so it is very likely that the current system will remain in use in the future.
