Abstract
Ivana Brlić Mažuranić is one of the most acclaimed Croatian children's author. Her most notable works, The Brave Adventures of Lapitch and Croatian Tales of Long Ago, have been translated into many languages and recognized as masterpieces of children's literature, earning her the title of „Croatian Andersen“. The paper explores sites and locations where the author lived and created her works, identifying the family heritage preserved in these locations and the way in which this legacy is introduced and presented to the public. The life and work of Ivana Brlić Mažuranić is mainly identified with the city of Ogulin, where she was born and city of Slavonski Brod, where she lived and worked for most of her life. Apart from there, the author also spent her childhood and youth in Zagreb. The paper also explores a part of her legacy that is kept in Rijeka due to family ties, although the author herself never lived there. The legacy of Ivana Brlić Mažuranić is preserved mostly in fragments and thanks to individual efforts, mainly those of family members and caretakers dedicated to preserving the family heritage.
