Abstract
The underlying thesis deals with the analytical description of Croatian war poetry in the form of female epistolary literature covering the period from 1991 to 1995. In general, female epistolary literature is defined as the form of literature where the lyrical subject is mainly focused on the biological determinology and essentialism of the female experience associated with the female body, i.e. the physical object. Regarding the historical development of Croatian literature per se and during the aforementioned peried, female epistolary war literature plays a fundamental role, whereas its key structures are well described, e.g. in the works Priča po Pavlu, Rod avetnjaka and Kao da me nema, upon which most of the analysis is conducted. Thus, the present thesis carefully follows the development of the structural and semantical elements of female letters as well as female war letters against the historical and political background during their emergence. By applying both the deductive and inductive-deductive methods we find that the development of female war epistolary literature represents a highly oppressed and neglected process compared to „male“ war literature. We show that this special form of literature is significanlty less described and emphasized in theoretical literature studies. However, its study remains fundamental for establishing a deeper understanding of the treated war period.
