Abstract

This thesis attempts to establish a theoretical frame of electronic sports, present its funamental aspects and depicts a international gaming community. Electronic sports are a relatively new and broad global phenomenon originated from the culture of computer games. Computer games today are a globally popular media that became a part of everyday culture. Electronic sports are a giant industry that has been rapidly growing in the past decade and has a multimillion global audience. This thesis tries to establish a foundation for further reasearch of electronic sports.
