Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to explore if Ganga is presented on festivals for the purpose of its preservation exclusively or it, by the selection of the cultural heritage of Imotski County, serves as a part of the organization of festivals whose aim is of another nature. The thesis consists of two parts; theoretical and empirical part. In theoretical part Ganga is presented to detail, as well as it preservation, its protection, authenticity and festivals. In the empirical part four Ganga Festivals are described and the answers of organizers, performers and visitors. The aim of the thesis was to put an importance on the preservation of Ganga through festivals and to explore if all the participants are aware of the importance of its preservation and if that reason is the only one why festivals are held. It is concluded by data processing that the community performing Ganga is still not aware of the importance of its preservation. Furthermore, for the festivals of that type, the organization should be on a higher level, that is that borough, town, district and country should be included in the organization.
