Abstract
In the past, photographs were very rare and expensive. This was influenced by the rapid development of technology. Because of that, it is important that the remaining photographs are correctly stored. Positives and negatives are the only source that can depict the period in which they were made. This is exactly what this paper is about - methods of preservation of photographic collections. In this paper you can find basic information about the photographic structure and its forms and different types of negatives. Furthermore, it mentions different causes and types of damages, which can develop by faulty storage. Finally, there is an overview of measures and methods of preservation of photographic collections, ways of exposing, storing, digitizing and making copies.
