Abstract
The goal of my thesis is to make comparative analysis of philosophical and political values of liberalism and republicanism. It is about different views of the political community and political freedom. Next I am going to show difference in other values and institutional solution of this two modern philosophical political views offer. For the purpose of setting up the comparison, first I am going to determine what constitutes the concept of liberalism and republicanism. Next I am going to analyze the republican ethos in the work of N. Machiavelli, who restores the stetting of classical republicanism. I am going to devoted particular attention to the analysis of Hobbes’s work which, in a special way, unites theoretical premises of liberalism with elements of republicanism in it absolutist political theory. Then follows the analysis of liberal philosophical-political values in the works of J. Locke and republican, but at the same time also liberal in J.J. Rousseau’s works. In the concluding part I will show the similarities and differences of liberal and republican values and their importance for modern political culture.
