Abstract
This thesis describes elementary processes in electronic documents management in archives, mentions OAIS reference model, which is the foundation for a successful electronic archive, lists the most important improvement solutions, and gives an overview of legal aspects, norms and procedures included in records management. Records management field is wide and it puts more and more challenges in front of today's archivists. In an effort of reducing paper records, whole new EDRMS systems have been designed. They are usually associated with modern information technology and without it would be hard to imagine EDRMS's progress in this field. The emphasis is on long-term preservation of records at risk as well as on their availability to clients because media obsolescence can prevent access to record's content.
