Abstract
This paper analyzes the mobility network within the Erasmus + program. At the country level, we analyzed the network of total mobility within the program. Along with the visible dominance of five countries (Germany, France, Spain, United Kingdom and Italy), the network structure reflects the core-periphery structure. Analysis of the incoming and outgoing mobility flows indicates that the program is relatively successful in controlling the difference between inflows and outflows. Nevertheless, the imbalance in some countries has extreme values. Thereat, authorities and hubs centrality indicates that the biggest exporters and importers are not necessarily the "best" ones too.
Furthermore we analyzed the network of student mobility for studies and staff mobility for teaching at the institutional level. Degree distribution significantly deviates from the power law distribution and exponential distribution, i.e. the network itself does not fit into a scale-free model. Even though there is no large growth and "rich get richer" effect, higher education institutions with the highest structural prestige maintain their positions in the network, with the exceptionally high representation of Spanish higher education institution on this list. Structural prestige itself does not reflect social prestige, which partly derives from the inaccessibility to a greater number of students. However, unlike the students, the professors are somewhat motivated by the perception of the prestige of the higher education institution when choosing a receiving institution.
