Abstract

This thesis analyzes the twenty six late medieval statutory and law decrees from Dalmatia, Croatian Littoral and Istria, including an inquisitorial process in the town of Šibenik. In both cases the subjects of interest are the terminology related to witchcraft, sorcery and magic, along with the legal background. Regarding the Šibenik process, attention is given to the social and cultural characteristics, natures of sorcery, witchcraft and the magical practices. The decrees are compared to each other and, along with the Šibenik case, with those from the regional and wider European area.
