Abstract

Pedagogical profession requiers continuous professional development that stops routine and promotes personal and professional growth of the individual and the society. The practitioner needs to take various opportunities to develop and enhance required skills demostrating in that way the importance of lifelong education. Professional trainingsin side and outside the institution should be well-planned and the organizers should be competent to work with adults and encourage them to self-education so that their development would become truly complete and in a cetain continuity. Various factors affect the activity of pedagogues in the field of professional training. The empirical part of the thesis shows a study in which are examined the factors that examinees evaluate as relevant and which affect the possibilities of school pedagogue to partcipate in various forms of professional trainings as a key part of professional development. The survey was conducted on a sample of 45 school pedagogues who partecipated in a professionalstate conference for expert associate – pedagogues in november 2017. The obtained results show that the frequency of partecipation in various professional trainings depends on work experience and the type of educational institution in which the examinees are employed. Pedagogues have a positive opinion towards continuing education program and that opinion is not dependent on their position. They are intrinsically motivated for involvement in various educational programs which aid their personal growth and professional development.According to this sample of queried people, it can be concluded that a good basis and conditions exist for practitioners to truly developed professionally, and that their needs must be regularly reevaluated to enhance the possibilities of their development.
