Abstract
This paper deals with children's play as primary, most important activity for preschool children. Play causes the feeling of joy and satisfaction, it has important purpose in child development altogether, and with that in speech-language development as well. The play encourages child's learning of new term and concepts, new skills and functions, but in a fun and interesting way.
The paper consists of theoretical and methodical part. Theoretical part deals with children's speech development in nonverbal and verbal period, it shows detail definition of children's play and classification of children's play by age. With classification, there are given methods of influence on speech-language development, and also ways on which children's play develops abstract and social thinking.
Methodical part presents three types of children's play, with different aims. One is for development of consonants, other for vocabulary and third for development of syntax. Each type of play has determined purpose, determined age for which is used and for each is shown way of tracking progress.
