Abstract
The focus of this paper is to show the benefits of attending a sport, in this case by practicing
pole dance fitness, in physical, psychological and social sense. Physical benefits refers to the
body shaping, maintaining forms, and so on, psychological benefits refers to improving
self-confidence and social benefits refers to formation of community and friendship within
that community. Pole dance is specific in the way that it combines moves on the pole and
dancing around the pole thus combining exercise and relaxation with dancing. Pole dance
fitness brought changes in the life of my respondents in a way that by increasing strength and
revealing “hidden” sensuality they increased their self-confidence and thus improved their
quality of life outside of venue. In addition, pole dance fitness has provided them with a safe
place without prejudices in which they are building strong friendships.
