Abstract

The goal of this thesis is to present the features of the Slovak language in online communication, specifically in chat rooms. We shall accomplish this by analysing examples of chat communication taken from the Slovak chat portals Kecaj.sk and Pokec.sk, which are given in their original form. The thesis analyses the syntax of the language in the chat rooms, adherence to orthographic rules, the lexis of chat conversation, its characteristics and the ways of expressing emotions among Slovak chat room users.
