Abstract
This graduate thesis describes the basics of digital image processing and comparison of photo editors. It starts with the basics of photography and the way physical photos are made. Colors are one of the most important elements of the image so all color features are listed. Digital images are stored with different image formats and therefore, the most used formats are described and the differences between JPEG and PNG formats are being specifically listed. Furthermore, the main features which all photo editors have, are being explained and the difference between vector and raster graphics is shown. After the theoretical part come the descriptions and lastly, the comparison of raster photo editors. Photoshop CC, Lightroom Classic CC, Affinity Photo, and GIMP are chosen. For each of those tools basic features are written, such as the look of user interface, the version of the application, platform availability and description of the latest additional tools for photographers.
