Abstract
The aim of this thesis is to demonstrate the practices of cultural pluralism through a case study of an elementary school in Zagreb. The school was chosen because it is attended by students of Roma, Albaninan and Bosnian origin. Using qualitative methodology – field work, semi-structured interviews, analysis of aquired material and relevant literature and a case study method, the main purpose was to explore whether the practices of cultural pluralism are promoted by school, what they are and what kind of teacher and school approach they are encouraged by. The results how that the practices of cultural pluralism are promoted by the school via curricular and extra curricular content integration and specific support to culturally different pupils. These are achieved through conversation, acceptance of equal values in classroom teaching and selfresearch, critical thinking and dialogue in history teaching. Besides, these practices are accomplished by a school culture opened to diversity, led by the school motto „diversity will connect and not divide us“.
