Abstract
The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between motivational beliefs, quality of school life and student engagement in learning physics. Participants were 261 7th and 8th grade elementary school students. The instruments used in this study were: Engagement in physics scale, Quality of school life questionnaire, Self-efficacy scale, Self-efficacy for self- regulated learning scale and Subjective task values scale. Teacher-student relationship, self-efficacy, self-efficacy for self-regulated learning and intrinsic value were found as significant predictors of behavioral engagement. General satisfaction, teacher-student relationship, selfefficacy for self-regulated learning, attainment and utility value were identified as significant predictors of cognitive engagement. Grade, negative affect, teacher-student relationship, selfefficacy, intrinsic and utility value predicted emotional engagement. The results have shown
significant contribution of selected variables in prediction of student engagement in physics.
