Abstract

This thesis covers the topic of creation of monuments dedicated to the National Liberation War during the times of the Socialist Republic of Croatia in the city of Zagreb and their significance for the society. The analized monuments depict and celebrate the victory of NLW during and after World War II. They are symbols of defeated fascism and represent one important part in human history. Also, they have important artistic value in relation to european modern art. Their perception and relationship with society is expressed through the culture of memory and oblivion produced by the political elites since 1990.
