Abstract
The aim of this paper is to contribute to the understanding of the relationship between counterproductive work behavior, aggression and honesty/humility. The research was conducted on a heterogeneous sample of participants of different professions (N = 334). Self-estimations of counterproductive work behavior, self-estimations of honesty/humility, measured using the HEXACO 60 questionnaire, and self-estimations of explicit aggression, measured using a shortened Buss-Perry aggression questionnaire, were collected. Furthermore, implicit aggression was measured using the Conditional Reasoning Test for Aggression. Starting from channeling hypothesis we assumed that explicit personality would moderate relationship between implicit aggression and counterproductive behavior. With two separate analysis we examined moderator effect of explicit aggression and honesty/humility. We proved significant interaction between explicit and implicit aggression in prediction of the criteria. In a way that when explicit personality is low, frequency of contraproductive work behavior increase with higher implicit aggression. When explicit aggression is high, frequency of contraproductive work behavior doesn’t depend on degree of implicit aggression. The moderating effect of honesty/humility did not prove to be significant.
