Abstract
English is not merely the global language of speech, it is a global language of written communication mediated by the Internet as well. This paper examines the use of English as a lingua franca among European breeders of the Pembroke Welsh Corgi dog by analysing the corpus compiled from publicly available Facebook photos, statuses and comments of corgi breeders. The analysis of their language through various types of inquiry points to the existence of a specific metalanguage whose usage is not dependent upon the level of proficiency in English. Other idiosyncrasies of their English are examined as well.
