Abstract
The article deals with the results of the research concerning strategies of mediation. Participants in this research were Croatian students enrolled in Master 2 of French language study programme, module Translation. In the first part of the article the research focuses on following questions: which strategies of mediation the students use the most frequently; in what extent and by what means they manage to circumvent the difficulties; what are the necessary means for the implementation of strategies of planning, execution, evaluation and repair? This will lead us to the analysis of the concept of “mediation” and to explain it as a set of complex activities which privilege the communication and the tasks that have to be accomplished, as well as the participants involved in those tasks. The article will also determine the impact of the interpretive theory of translation within the concept of mediation, more precisely the understanding, the deverbalization, the equivalence and the cognitive baggage (Seleskovitch and Lederer 42001).
