Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to provide a grammatical overview of Hawaiian Creole English, the creole language spoken in Hawaii, in comparison with the English language, its main lexifier. The thesis consists of a succinct introductory review of the history of Hawaiian Creole English and grammatical overview of the written form of Hawaiian Creole English. All of the examples used in the thesis were based on and retrieved from the online version of The Pidgin Bible, the translation of the Bible to Hawaiian Creole English published in July 2000. The grammatical overview and the research conducted in the thesis serve to demonstrate the extent to which Hawaiian Creole English has developed and changed in contrast to its main lexifier.
