Abstract

The relationship of test anxiety with positive and negative perfectionism is still relatively uninvestigated area. For that reason, the aim of this study was to investigate the relationship of test anxiety with positive and negative perfectionism as well as to investigate the relationship of the above mentioned variables with some measures of objective and subjective academic achievement. Used instruments were Test Anxiety Inventory, Positive and Negative Perfectionism Scale and some questions related to objective and subjective academic achievement. The results showed negative relationship of test anxiety with examination passing, average grade and self-satisfaction as a student. Positive relationship of positive perfectionism with grade importance and self-satisfaction as a student was found. Negative perfectionism is also positively associated with grade importance, but negatively related to self-satisfaction as a student. Test anxiety is negatively related to negative perfectionism. Further more, the results indicate that nonadaptive perfectionists had higher levels of test anxiety than adaptive perfectionist and nonperfectionists, while there was no such difference between these two groups.
