Abstract
This paper highlights the activity of Andrijić and Petrović families’ construction and stonemason workshops from Korčula in the area of Dubrovnik, with an emphasis on their undertakings in the last quarter of the 15th, and the first quarter of the 16th century. Due to the establishment of a new repertoire of motifs, predetermined by the works of Pietro di Martino da Milano and the Tuscan masters of the renaissance art, contemplating the creative output of these workshops in this period proves to be especially interesting. By referring to the art history literature, attempts were made to both map out directions and peaks in the study of their activities, and to present the problems pertaining to the main topic of this paper. The exemplification of the progress made in regards to style and motif, by the series of works created in these workshops at the time, only reinforces the notion that Andrijić and Petrović families were some of the very best in terms of stonemason skills when compared with the local masters of the time. Furthermore, it puts them ahead of others in terms of acquiring classical motifs in renaissance Dubrovnik.
