Abstract
This thesis deals with the topic of code switching and other language contact phenomena that have mainly been described in bilingual speech. Here we deal with the phenomenon in multilingual speakers, i.e. multilingual children. For the purposes of this paper, a case study with an 8-year-old multilingual boy was conducted. The child was taped in home environment over a period of 5 months, from age 8;6 to 8;11. The study was also supported by comments of the child’s parents who have answered a questionnaire on the child’s speaking behaviour. The study has shown some results that are very close to those described in literature on code switching, but also some that had been unexpected. Nevertheless, we have not received enough quality material when it came to the L3, and more time should be given to the research of such a complex phenomenon.
