Abstract

It is the aim of this paper to give an insight into social communication among pupils as a significant component of their existence and to draw attention to its essence, factors and importance. Namely, social communication among pupils is an important guideline in the personality development. This calls for a thorough analysis and studying of all of its determinants in order to more precisely define and improve pupils’ communicational competence. Social competence is a natural form of human existence; it is a human social relationship, a process taking place daily, intentionally and unintentionally, in various forms, in various ways and in various styles. The purpose of social communication is to receive and transfer information, thoughts, viewpoints, ideas...This paper presents precisely these forms, modes and styles of communication, the kinds of communication among pupils, gender differences appearing between male and female pupils in terms of conceptualising communication, and enquires what social competencies are and how they are developed. The paper ends by an account of the importance of social competencies in the curriculum of school as an institution.
